The Grand Order of Divine Sweets
Tucked between The Drake and Gladstone hotels on the West-side of Toronto’s eclectic Queen Street is perhaps one of the geekiest – in the best way possible – bakeries and dessert cafes in the city, The Grand Order of Divine Sweets. Founded by award-winning cake designer Sam Lapointe from Cakes Cove fame and Meridith Braun, a gaming industry veteran, this unique spot affectionately known as “The GOoDs” specialises in science-fiction, fantasy, and comic-inspired sweet treats for fandoms far and wide.
With great care comes great responsibility
Fandom communities delight in the creativity and special details The GOoDS’ puts into every one of their food creations. But it’s exactly this high-degree of care that makes shipping The GOoDS’ treats especially challenging. The shipments are often fragile, time-sensitive, and made for special occasions – customer expectations are high. “We tested many different couriers for years and were inevitably disappointed each time. Our orders were often delivered late or damaged, which really let down our customers,” shares Megan MacKinnon, Front of House Manager. The team was on the lookout for a delivery service that could handle shipments with consistent care.
Do or do not, there is no try
In the summer of 2022, The GOoDS’ team stumbled on a blogTO article featuring BLSH Delivery, our fragile food delivery service – and as it turns out, we were exactly what they were looking for. So, when our founder, Sarah Brown, walked into The GOoDS’ Queen street storefront, sparks flew. “I remember admiring the beautiful cakes in the window, walking in to introduce myself, and Megan chasing me down as I left,” recalls Sarah. “I’m so glad we found each other. I just love what they’re doing”. It wasn’t long after this chance encounter that we took on our first delivery for The GOoDS, a van full of tasty treats to the Ed Mirvish theatre in Toronto’s entertainment district.
Live long and prosper
Six months later, BLSH now delivers The GOoDS’ baked creations on a daily basis and the partnership is stronger than ever. “The BLSH team are extremely easy to work with, they deliver our creations in perfect condition, our customers love them, and they have great rates and flexibility,” says Megan.
